Wheels Through Time Museum will sweep you back in time with its astounding presentation of vintage transportation. Located in the picturesque town of Maggie Valley, NC, the 38,000 sq. ft. museum offers the World's largest collection of rare American motorcycles, cars from each of the ten decades and related memorabilia.
Representing the early years, there are over 30 motorcycle models made before 1916, including Oscar Hedstroms unique prototype. A Harley-Davidson Knucklehead and a collection of pre-war models cover the years 1929 to 1939. Race and Hillclimb motorcycles round out the collection as well as automobiles and gas pumps.
The focus of many over the past year or so has been women in motorcycling and the Wheels Through Time Museum is no exception. Opening on April 23, 2006, "The Girls: A Photographic History of Women in Motorcycling" will give visitors a view of the women who helped pave the way for the rest of us girls.
A trip to this museum gives you the best of both worlds, beautiful scenery and beautiful machines. This is not a place to stop on the way, it is the destination.
