Kenny Noland Benefit Poker Run Raises over $2,000
Monday, June 19, 2005
The sun was hiding and the air was cool but that did not stop 70
motorcycles and over 100 people from participating in the Kenny Noland
Benefit Poker Run this past Saturday.
The poker run was held in the memory of Kenneth Clay Noland, known as
Bones, who passed away at the age of 38, on April 19, 2005.
Kenny died from terminal non-small cell lung cancer,

just four months after he was
diagnosed. Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of lung cancer, comprising 80% of
all cases. Proceeds from the event went to Lisa Noland, Kenny's wife, their daughter Alexis, age 8, and their son Paul, age 6.
Keith and Kim Zartman, along with 15 volunteers, spent 6 weeks planning
the poker run, which included entertainment, raffles, door prizes and
refreshments. Keith spent many years working with Kenny and formed a
close bond. This was the first poker run Keith had put together and
says that he will plan one for next year to help another family.
A very special thanks goes out to the Fairborn Police Department for
blocking traffic and making the trip thru Fairborn safe. Keith said,
"You would have thought we were the president coming thru!"
Congratulations
to Chief Terry Barlow, on his new postion as Police Chief.
Brad and Tonya, from Z-Man Entertainment, had the crowd rocking at
Quaker Steak and Lube in Fairborn after the poker run. If you ever need
a DJ, Brad Zartman can be reached at 937-623-3330.
The best part of the whole day was when Lisa was presented with
approximately $2,180 to help pay medical bills and funeral expenses.
Donations
can still be made to Lisa Noland at 2732 Coronette Ave, Dayton, OH
45414.
